Apart from the insanity of tackling 350 steps down to Wreck Beach and a walk along the soft sand and then a walk up the same 350 steps (an effort I paid for dearly in following days at The Grampians where all I could do muscle-wise was sit in a La-Z-Boy and binge 2 seasons of The Crown), the Great Ocean Road delivered an uneventful spectacle that is best told in pictures.
A note on this last photo of a structure called London Bridge. Apparently, there were 2 arches originally until on 15 Jan, 1990, the arch on the left crashed into the sea, just like that. A guy we met at the lookout had been on London Bridge in 1990, just a week earlier, with his kids, as you could walk out onto it back then. Anyway, a week later his family were travelling in NZ and saw on the news that the arch had collapsed. He recalled that two people were stranded on the other isolated section and had to be rescued by helicopter. Talk about a lucky escape for all concerned!
