Quobba Station is 10 hours drive north of Perth. Rob’s choice for a one-night stopover en route to Ningaloo, it was one of our favourite spots.
Our campsite was right on the beach and Quobba is a stargazer’s destination, so there was an abundance of sights and sounds at night.
First stop was the local blowholes – three small blowholes and one monster. After checking in and setting up camp, we drove a few metres up the road to a deserted clifftop, where we had dinner while watching the sun set over the Indian Ocean. Not too shabby.

Amazing!
It was terrific, Mon. We were thinking of you guys later on when we camped in Karijini NP. There was a bird there that we called ‘the James bird’ because one of its call sounded just like ‘James! James! James! James!’ Or maybe it should be the Mon bird?
Defo the ‘Mon’ bird. Usually heard at 7pm each weekday evening, when the delicious dinner she’s prepared for the Macquarie bird is sitting unattended.
Not too shabby at all!
