For the botanists

Where in Australia can you visit one of the biggest inner city parks in the world? Right here in Perth.

It’s Kings Park, and this impressive place didn’t suffer a recent name change to accommodate Charles III. The land was set aside way back in 1831, and named in honour of Edward VII in 1901.

Of course, Aboriginal people have been visiting here for many thousands of years, calling it Mooro Katta or Kaarta Gar-up. The park recognises this enduring connection in various ways.

Welcome to wildflower season in WA!

And for those of you who aren’t into botany but still persevered to the end of this post, here’s a pretty good painting of Tim Rogers that Rob saw at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. It’s an entrant in the Lester Prize.
